Mix Sets
Artist BioAnikin discovered The Force, one night in February 2008, when Jedi Master Crisis left his CDJ100S's at Sebastian Frances's house after a party. He put on the headphones and has barely taken them off since. He picked up the skill very quickly, initially mixing mainly trance, hardcore, psy and breaks. But the force had taken hold of young Anikin, and he found tracks across almost every genre that he loved, and soon added electro to the list of skills that he had mastered within The Force. This lead to him being booked for his first public set at Nitrate's 4th Birthday. Encouraged by his peers, Anikin broadened his style again to include dubstep and drum and bass. While still being more than eager to play almost any genre of electronic music, Anikin chose to focus his learning of The Force between these 2 genres and electro. Gaining a reputation for predominantly playing the heavy, filthy best end of each style. Anikin is always searching to find new and unheard music to keep his dancefloors intrigued. With Anikin comes his trademark ability to mix many genres competently, using CDJ's and turntables, all with the same high energy and infectious stage presence. This makes him a versatile DJ for a wide range of people. With electronic music now firmly placed in Anikin's life, he started to produce his own. Anikin demonstrated a thorough knowledge of The Force, and snagged himself a residency at the local Double Drop cafe, known as the hub of Christchhurch's dubstep scene. Anikin and his partner in crime Adelle held a weekly electro night, "House Arrest" at Double Drop. They also wielded their Lightsabers at the electro haven, Capitol. When Double Drop, and well known club, Double Happy merged, Anikin stayed true. He played every Friday, smashing elctro until midnight alongside Adelle, and then until the small hours of each Saturday mixing it up with Double Happy's resident Dubstep Central crew. With the Electro Side of The Force pointing the way, Anikin scored a regular booking at highly renowned The Concrete Club, where he continues to team up with Adelle to bring the Electro-Fresh sound to Christchurch's clubbers. Anikin is also on the airwaves, he and Adelle host the Electro-Fresh show on PulzarFM, Fridays 10pm until midnight. He also plays wednesday nights with Delicious Music on www.glitch.fm. He is also continuing to secure sets at outdoor ravesand parties, continously deicated to spending majority of his spare time dedicated to music. Anikin now plays frequently at double happy, his radio shows, private parties, and is continuing to produce his own tunes. With appearances alongside some of electronic music's most well know, including Trolley Snatcher, Matrix, Futurebound, Greg Churchill, Angela Fisken aka. Aural Trash, and local big players Adelle, Crisis, Sebastian Wild, Seth Hamilton, Aragorn, Ben Fulford Talbot, King Al, Timmyc, J-Red and Toby Nice, there is no doubt that The Force is indeed strong in Anikin. |
