Markj

Markj is a 24 year old DJ based in Melbourne, Australia. His current sound has been dubbed as "tech funk" which includes elements of tech house,deep house,techno, minimal, prog and electro.

He played bass guitar in the band "illegal Supplies" at the tender age of 11,then with the influence from his older siblings began djing at 14.Originally influenced by Psy trance acts such as Son Kite,Phony Orphants,Antix and Atmos,Marks love for tech came after influential sets by Kasey Taylor and John Digweed at the final Gathering in Nelson.

He has been producing for 4 years now with two current projects.MDT with Tom COSM which is a techno/electro/slutfunk act and N.A.M.E. with Australian Johnny Bam which is a deep house/minimal tech act.Both acts have received plays on radio stations Kiss fm,RDU,Radio One,The Most fm and Starlifter.tv.

Marks latest project is a combination of his two biggest passions in life,food and music.Soundfood is an event where Mark simultaneously djs and cooks in a range of different scenarios.His first attempt at Summer Soulstice 09 in Christchurch,Mark cooked a mushroom soup during his set and fed it to the crowd at the end.Mark is now bringing Soundfood to household dinner parties across Australasia.It's early days yet but there are big plans for this business in the future.

Marks djing has landed him gigs across Australasia and North America, playing support for the likes of Nathan Haines,Antix,Uone,Dave Pham, Dick Johnson, Greg Churchill,Aural Trash,Roger Perry and Recloose.He is known for performances displaying energy and passion for his craft. His love for music shows when on stage and he can perform to a diverse range of crowds.
