Close to the heart of Christchurch city and tucked away in an area full of raging students lives a young, self taught producer by the name of Misshin. Misshin is no stranger to electronic music and music production. When he was a young boy he suddenly became immersed with the club culture when he started listening to his sisters CD's. His passion for uplifting big club anthems grew on him and shortly after when he purchased Music 2000 on the Sony Playstation he began experimenting with music production for himself. His taste for music was alway's very broad stretching from the club culture of trance music listening to artists like Safri Duo, DJ Tiesto and Armin Van Buuren; to mixing it with old school classic's with Sugarhill Gang, Whodini, and Grandmaster Flash. At the age of 12 he entered a competition by sending a demo in on cassette to DJ Tiesto himself!! Unfortunately 1 year later he received a letter in the mail telling him that all applicants outside the Netherlands were unable to enter the competition!! The excitement after receiving a letter, even though it wasn't amazing news, gave him great inspiration to keep going. During his High School years his friends influences and several parties made him give Hip Hop a go and during that time he constructed a few remixes together of popular tunes. Sport took over the latter years of his time at school until near the end of his 7th form year he met a friend who had the same creative interests as himself. He introduced him to a lot of underground hip hop, artists like Moka, J Dilla, Pete Philly and Foreign Exchange were being played in his car stereo like it was going out of fashion. Later came the introduction to Drum n Bass and with Shapeshifter in town they were a monumental inspiration which got him totally hooked into the scene. With no direction after High School he decided to take the music thing a little more seriously. He worked profusely after his time at school and got enough money to buy a whole lot of studio equipment, and with a little help from his family he was able to start living his dreams.
One night at the Ministry during the year 2007 The Upbeats were touring with their release "Nobody's Out There". It was a gig to never ever forget. While The Upbeats, Jeremy and Dylan rocked the house with their opening tune Binge Drinker a girl turned and threatened, " If you don't start dancing I'm gonna smash you". It was from that very moment that Misshin never looked back. Drum and Bass all of a sudden became a religion for a short while.... THEN Benga and Skream came to our shores. If anyone was present in 2009 at Inangahua PHAT 09 then you will know that it was something special. Anxious to get back to the studio after the event Misshin began playing around with the sounds of Dubstep, and he's still doing it. Emotionally powered driven songs and a huge passion for getting those on the dancefloor getting their share of pure ecstasy this producer is certainly one to watch for the future!!!!!!!
